FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series Stop and Second Season of MediaBasket Conclude at Sea Breeze

18 August 2026

From August 15 to 17, Sea Breeze hosted a series of 3x3 basketball events with the support of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation and Dream Group. The program included an international FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series stop and the second season of the MediaBasket sports and media project.

The FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series stop at Sea Breeze began on August 15. A total of 16 teams from different countries took part in the competition, including the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Poland, Paraguay, Egypt and Benin. Azerbaijan was represented by the national team and Neftçi SOCAR.

The decisive games of the competition took place on August 16. Neftçi SOCAR reached the quarterfinals, where they lost to Madrid 12–14 in overtime. The team continued competing and reached the final, where it faced the Netherlands national team. In the final, the Netherlands won 18–13. Dutch player Ilse Kuijt was named the MVP of the final.

On August 17, Sea Breeze hosted the second season of MediaBasket, a project that brings together basketball and representatives of Azerbaijan’s media industry. Eight teams played 16 games in the 3x3 format. Artists, bloggers, athletes, presenters and other public figures took part in the games.

The championship title was won by MediaKings, which also competed in the first season of the project. The team included MediaBasket founder and blogger Ruslan Aslanov, Eurovision participant Fahree, President of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation Vadim Kutukov, blogger Abdulla, Russian MediaBasket League participant and blogger Asim Gasimov, as well as model Riyad.

The charitable component was once again part of the project. As in the previous season, the organizers donated the AZN 1,000 prize designated for the winners to a child battling an illness. This initiative has been part of the MediaBasket concept since the project was founded.
