Surf Sea Breeze: From a Surf School to Azerbaijan’s First Artificial Wave Complex

23 October ∙ 2026

The Surf Sea Breeze school has opened at Sea Breeze, marking the first stage in the development of a new multisport complex. The project will eventually feature Azerbaijan’s first ocean-type artificial wave, alongside sports facilities, training and leisure areas, and other opportunities for active recreation.

Children and adults can already learn to surf on the natural waves of the Caspian Sea under the guidance of professional instructors. The school provides all the necessary equipment, including surfboards and wetsuits to help keep participants warm in the water. The availability and duration of sessions depend on weather conditions, water temperature, and safety requirements.

The technical launch of the artificial wave is scheduled for completion by the end of December 2026. Following equipment testing, training sessions will be introduced gradually. The wave pool will measure 120 metres in length, 53 metres in width, and 1.5 metres in depth. The maximum rideable wave distance will reach 115 metres, with waves of up to 1.8 metres high. Up to 12 surfers will be able to use the wave simultaneously, while the optimal capacity is expected to be around eight participants. Adjustable settings will allow conditions to be tailored to different skill levels, from beginners to experienced surfers.

In 2027, the project is set to expand beyond surfing with facilities for padel, tennis, and beach volleyball, as well as a skate park, snow park, martial arts and MMA academy, fitness and recovery areas, cafés, family spaces, and event venues. Updates on the launch dates of individual facilities and the availability of services will be published as they become ready.

The coaching team is led by Nikita Avdeev, a Master of Sport, multiple-time Russian champion, and participant in World Surf League (WSL) competitions, and Vladimir Noskov, who has more than eight years of experience teaching children and adults.
