On October 18, a solemn ceremony was held in the resort city of Sea Breeze to unveil the star of Tahir Salahov, the People’s Artist of Azerbaijan and the USSR. As the founder of the severe style in painting, Salahov left a profound mark on both national and global art, becoming a true symbol of the Azerbaijani school of painting.
The star was unveiled by his daughter – artist, sculptor, and gallerist Aidan Salahova, along with his grandsons Dan Sultanov and Kaykhan Salahov. In his speech, Dan Sultanov noted that Nardaran had always been a source of energy and inspiration for the master, a place where he created many of his most celebrated works.
On October 19, the Nine Senses Art Centre hosted a screening of archival video materials about the life and creative journey of the artist, prepared by Kaykhan Salahov. Visitors had the opportunity to see Tahir Salahov’s paintings, interviews, and rare footage from his house in Nardaran, where he used to work. In the film, the artist shares memories of the most significant moments of his life and the stories behind his paintings – from the collective image of the “Absheron's Women” to portraits of Gara Garayev and Fikret Amirov.
